Music

At St Andrew the Great we love singing together when we gather together.

Here are four ways that music enriches our church family and our wider community to the glory of God

Sharing

SINGING IN THE GATHERING

As we sing together each week, we are together ministering the life-transforming message of Jesus to each other (Colossians 3:16). It is always our aim to sing songs together that honour Jesus and saturate our minds, souls and hearts with him. Whether or not you feel especially musical, this is a beautiful, precious but also indispensable part of our gathering.

There are plenty of opportunities for those with gifts of music and/or tech know-how to serve at St Andrew the Great, both at our Sunday services and during the week. We’re always on the lookout for people skilled in these areas to join the music or AV teams.

RESOURCING OUR SINGING

The good news of the Bible contains such a rich tapestry of themes and ideas that make us wise for salvation (2 Timothy 3:15). It is in this rich good news we want to engage with and be shaped by through our songs. We love to encourage songwriters and composers to write music that will benefit and build up our church and others.

We believe that God’s gift of music should direct everyone, whether Christian or otherwise, back to him.

Our classical ensemble partners, Ensemble in the Round, put on concerts of classical music and talks, exploring the fascinating intersection of art, music and the gospel.

We also hold more occasional musical outreach events, such as jazz nights and ceilidhs, according to the musical gifts we find within our church family, along with some online musical outreach. Do get in touch with the Church Office if you would like to be involved in the next one.
