5:00pm Service
O my soul,
worship His holy name.
Sing like never before,
O my soul.
I’ll worship your holy name.
The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning;
it’s time to sing your song again.
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me,
let me be singing when the evening comes.
Bless the Lord, O my soul …
You’re rich in love and you’re slow to anger,
Your name is great and your heart is kind.
For all your goodness, I will keep on singing;
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find.
Bless the Lord, O my soul …
And on that day when my strength is failing,
The end draws near and my time has come,
Still my soul will sing your praise unending:
Ten thousand years and then forever more!
Bless the Lord, O my soul …
May the mind of Christ my Saviour
live in me from day to day,
by his love and power controlling
all I do and say.
May the word of God dwell richly
in my heart from hour to hour,
so that all may see I triumph
only through his power.
May Christ be ever seen in me,
My heart, my mind, my soul, my strength.
May Christ be ever seen in me,
To bring Him glory for his work in me.
May the peace of God my Father
in my life forever reign,
that I may be calm to comfort
those in grief and pain.
May the might of God empower me
with the patience to endure,
and to know that in his service
there I am secure.
May Christ be ever seen in me…
May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking all the while to Jesus
as I onward go.
May his beauty rest upon me
as I seek to make him known;
so that all may look to Jesus,
seeing him alone.
May Christ be ever seen in me…
LORD’S SUPPER O
Leader: Brothers and sisters in Christ, as we receive the Lord’s Supper we must recall the promises and warnings in the Bible. Let us therefore examine ourselves and repent of our sins. Let us give thanks to God for his redemption of the world through his Son Jesus Christ, and as we remember Christ’s death for us, and receive this pledge of his love, let us resolve to serve him in righteousness all our days. You, then, who truly repent of your sins, and are loving your neighbours, and intending to lead a new life, following the commandments of God, and walking from this day forward in his holy ways; draw near with faith, as we confess our sins to Almighty God, saying…
CONFESSION
Together: Almighty God, our heavenly Father, we have sinned against you, through our own fault, in thought and word and deed, and in what we have left undone. For your Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, forgive us all that is past, and grant that we may serve you in newness of life, to the glory of your name. Amen.
LORD’S SUPPER
Leader: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. (1 Timothy 1:15)
If anybody sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; he is the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 2:1-2)
Together: We do not presume
to come to this your table, merciful Lord,
trusting in our own righteousness,
but in your abundant and great mercies.
We are not worthy even to
gather up the crumbs under your table.
But you are the same Lord
who delights in showing mercy.
Grant us therefore, gracious Lord,
so to eat this bread and drink this wine
that our bodies and souls may be made
clean by Christ’s body and blood
and that we may evermore dwell in him,
and he in us. Amen.
Leader: Almighty God, our heavenly Father, we thank you that in your tender mercy you gave your only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption; he made there a full atonement for the sins of the whole world, offering once for all his one sacrifice of himself; He instituted, and in his holy gospel commanded us to continue, a perpetual memory of his precious death until he comes again.
Leader: In the same night that he was betrayed,
he took bread and gave you thanks;
he broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying,
Together: “Take, eat; this is my body
which is given for you;
do this in remembrance of me.”
Leader: In the same way, after supper
he took the cup and gave you thanks;
he gave it to them, saying,
Together: “Drink this, all of you;
this is my blood of the new covenant,
which is shed for you and for many
for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this, as often as you drink it,
in remembrance of me.” Amen.
Hear the call of the kingdom
lift your eyes to the King;
let His song rise within you
as a fragrant offering
of how God, rich in mercy,
came in Christ to redeem
all who trust in His unfailing grace.
Hear the call of the Kingdom
to be children of light;
with the mercy of heaven,
the humility of Christ;
walking justly before Him,
loving all that is right;
that the life of Christ may shine through us.
King of Heaven, we will answer the call;
we will follow, bringing hope to the world;
give us passion, give us power to proclaim
salvation in Jesus’ name.
Hear the call of the Kingdom
to reach out to the lost
with the Father’s compassion
in the wonder of the cross,
bringing peace and forgiveness
and a hope yet to come:
let the nations put their trust in Him.
