11:45am Service
To lay down his life for the sake of us.
He bore the weight of our sin and shame;
With a cry he said, “It is finished!”Christ the Lord overcame the darkness.
He’s alive: death has been defeated.
For he made us a way,
by which we have been saved;
he’s the Saviour of the world.
So we lift up a shout for his fame and renown:
“Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Jesus, Saviour of the world!”
We must spread the word of his soon return,
to reclaim the world for his glory.
Let the church now sing of this coming King,
crowned with majesty, our Redeemer.
And he reigns, ruler of the heavens.
And his name is Jesus, the Messiah.
For he made us a way…
Christ the Lord overcame the darkness.
He’s alive: death has been defeated.
And He reigns, ruler of the heavens.
And His name is Jesus, the Messiah.
For he made us a way…
ADULT BAPTISM
Leader: Those who come for baptism must affirm their allegiance to Christ and their rejection of all that is evil. Therefore I ask you these questions:
Leader: Do you turn to Christ?
Answer: I turn to Christ.
Leader: Do you repent of your sins?
Answer: I repent of my sins.
Leader: Do you renounce evil?
Answer: I renounce evil.
Leader: You must now declare before God and his Church the Christian faith into which you are to be baptised and in which you will continue to live and grow.
Leader: Do you believe and trust in God the Father, who made the world?
Answer: I believe and trust in him.
Leader: Do you believe and trust in his Son Jesus Christ, who redeemed us from our sins?
Answer: I believe and trust in him.
Leader: Do you believe and trust in his Holy Spirit, who gives life to the people of God?
Answer: I believe and trust in him.
Leader: This is the faith of the Church.
Together: This is our faith. We believe and trust in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Leader: I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.Leader: Do not be ashamed to confess the faith of Christ crucified.
Together: Fight valiantly under the banner of Christ against sin, the world, and the devil, and continue his faithful soldier and servant to the end of your life.
Leader: May Almighty God deliver you from the powers of darkness and lead you in the light and obedience of Christ.
Together: Amen.
Leader: There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism. By one Spirit we are all baptised into one body.
Together: We welcome you into the fellowship of faith; we are children of the same heavenly Father; we welcome you.
What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear;
what a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations,
is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged:
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness –
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden,
burdened with a load of care?
Jesus is our mighty Saviour:
he will listen to our prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
take it to the Lord in prayer;
in his arms he will enfold you
and his love will shield you there.
CONFESSION
Leader: Jesus says the greatest commandments in God’s Law are these: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength; and love your neighbour as yourself.
Together: Almighty God, we confess that we have broken this law, and we deserve your anger. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, who died for us, forgive us all our sins, change our hearts and help us to live in obedience to your Word, that we may serve you with the whole of our lives, to the glory of your name. Amen.
Leader: To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father – to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. Revelation 1:5-6 NIV
I was an orphan lost at the Fall,
Running away when I’d hear Your call,
But Father, You worked Your will.
I had no righteousness of my own,
I had no right to draw near Your throne,
But Father, You loved me still.
And, in love, before You laid the world’s foundation,
You predestined to adopt me as Your own,
You have raised me so high up above my station.
I’m a child of God by grace and grace alone.
You left Your home to seek out the lost,
You knew the great and terrible cost,
But Jesus, Your face was set.
I worked my fingers down to the bone,
Nothing I did could ever atone,
But Jesus, You paid my debt.
By Your blood, I have redemption and salvation;
Lord, You died that I might reap what You have sown;
And You rose that I might be a new creation.
I am born again by grace and grace alone.
I was in darkness all of my life,
I never knew the day from the night,
But Spirit, You made me see.
I swore I knew the way on my own,
Head full of rocks, a heart made of stone,
But Spirit, You moved in me.
At your touch my sleeping spirit was awakened –
On my darkened heart the light of Christ has shone –
Called into a kingdom that cannot be shaken:
Heaven’s citizen by grace and grace alone.
So, I’ll stand in faith by grace and grace alone.
I will run the race by grace and grace alone.
I will slay my sin by grace and grace alone.
I will reach the end by grace and grace alone.
Hear the call of the kingdom
lift your eyes to the King;
let His song rise within you
as a fragrant offering
of how God, rich in mercy,
came in Christ to redeem
all who trust in His unfailing grace.
Hear the call of the Kingdom
to be children of light;
with the mercy of heaven,
the humility of Christ;
walking justly before Him,
loving all that is right;
that the life of Christ may shine through us.
King of Heaven, we will answer the call;
we will follow, bringing hope to the world;
give us passion, give us power to proclaim
salvation in Jesus’ name.
Hear the call of the Kingdom
to reach out to the lost
with the Father’s compassion
in the wonder of the cross,
bringing peace and forgiveness
and a hope yet to come:
let the nations put their trust in Him.
