Student Lunches
Good food, good chat, good teaching and good questions. Student Lunches give plenty of time to catch up with friends, chat about the sermon and meet people from other colleges over a tasty meal.
If you want to stay on, at around 1.15pm we’ll give you the chance to think through things like ‘How can I understand the Bible?’, ‘Should Christians be involved in social action?’ and ‘What are baptism and the Lord’s supper about.’ It’s not just a monologue from the front. You can bat round issues on your table and grill the speaker for a few minutes at the end. It’s all wrapped up by 2.00pm.
We really hope that these lunches will help you and your friends to get clearer on the Christian faith.

Is the cross about God’s love
or his anger? |
Some people think that the cross is a great symbol of God’s love. But others think that God must have been a mean and vindictive God to send his son to die—if that’s what he did. How do we understand the symbol at the heart of the Christian faith? |

Social justice and the
gospel |
Lots of us want to leave the world a better place than we found it. But Christians often sound confused over how important that is. Should we be just telling others about Jesus, for instance? This talk looks at how God is changing the world, and what that means for social justice. |

The meaning of baptism |
Some people think of baptism as magic; others as the way you become a Christian. Some think it’s just for babies; others just for adults. Why is baptism important and what does the Bible teach about it? |

The meaning of the Lord’s
Supper |
The Lord’s supper creates even more confusion than baptism. There seem to be so many names for it: ‘Communion’, ‘the Eucharist’, ‘Mass’. What is it about, who should share in it, and who shouldn’t? |
